Natalie Warnacutt 

Natalie Warnacutt is a 3D Dog certified canine behaviorist and dog trainer located in Birmingham, Alabama. 

 

With 9 years of professional zookeeping experience she worked with a variety of exotic mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and insects. Her primary focus was with big cats, reptiles, and amphibians. Now, Natalie has expanded her focus into the area of canine relationship-building and behavioral rehabilitation.

Training experience includes tigers, armadillos, caiman lizards, komodo dragons, Aldabra giant tortoises,

American alligators, and now canines. 

Natalie's skills as an expert animal trainer are now available to Birmingham dog parents who would like enhance their relationship at home with their pets.

Wildcat Sanctuary - Big Cat Keeper, 2012 - 2013

  • Worked with 124 felids, including Lions, bobcats, cougars, tigers, African leopards, Jaguars, clouded leopards, Eurasian lynx, North American lynx, and more. 

  • Cared for high-stress individuals from abusive backgrounds who had extensive behavioral issues, including aggression, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD

  • Assisted with Felix immobilizations, crating, transportation, and merging of cat

  • Aided in veterinary procedures, general examinations, dental procedures, and surgeries.

  • Served in rescue operations

  • Performed husbandry training through operant conditioning. 

Birmingham Zoo – Lead Reptile Keeper, 2015 - 2020.

  • Managed care for 50+ species of reptiles, amphibians, and fish including: Aldabra tortoises, green anaconda, Komodo dragon, desert tortoises, and more. 

  • Developed and maintained the American alligator training program for 3 male alligators and taught behaviors such as open mouth, target, recall, shifting, back, and platform training. 

  • Assisted in veterinary procedures such as: immobilizations, injections, x-rays, blood draws, ultrasounds, and more. 

  • Developed and taught lessons for the Zoo School program 

  • Received a PICA Grant to aid in the management of the Eastern Indigo Snake breeding program. 

  • Assisted in crate training the Komodo dragon.

Lake Superior Zoo - Temporary Keeper, 2014 - 2015

  • Provided comprehensive care for a variety of reptiles, mammals, birds, amphibians, and arachnids.

  • Presented keeper chats, animal encounters, and interpretations to the public
