We’re thrilled to announce that Adair Klapow has joined the Three Dimensional Dog team as our Behavioral Science Consultant — a role that elevates how we apply cutting-edge science to real-world canine behavior change.

Adair brings a unique combination of research-based expertise, community engagement, and a deep passion for neurodiversity and human-animal interaction. Her insights are already fueling exciting collaborations here at 3D Dog, especially in areas where psychology, development, and canine cognition intersect.

Who Is Adair Klapow?

Adair serves as a Research Assistant at the University of Alabama’s Center for Youth Development and Intervention as well as the Cognition, Brain & Autism Lab — where she contributes to research focused on developmental differences, cognition, and behavior.

Her academic and clinical interests center on how scientific frameworks from psychology and cognitive science can be applied to deepen our understanding of behavior, both in humans and in animals. She’s also active in the broader disability community — including outreach and advocacy related to autism support here in Alabama.

Bridging Comparative Psychology & Canine Cognition

At 3D Dog, one of the most exciting areas of collaboration with Adair has been in comparative psychology — a field that looks at similarities and differences in cognition and behavior across species. This framework helps us ask big questions, like:

  • How do canine cognitive processes compare to human developmental patterns?

  • What can studies of autism spectrum traits teach us about attention, learning, and adaptation in both dogs and people?

  • How might service dogs uniquely support individuals and families affected by ASD?

These questions are foundational to innovating next-generation services that go beyond traditional “dog training” into the realm of clinical behavior change and scientifically informed intervention.

Science-Based Best Practices for Behavior Change

Adair’s role reinforces our commitment to science-based best practices, rooted in psychology, behavior analysis, and cognition research, rather than guesswork and tradition. She helps ensure that our programs are informed by empirical evidence, ethical methodology, and the latest insights from human-animal interaction research.

Please join us in welcoming Adair Klapow to the 3D Dog team — the best is yet to come.

What's Ahead in 2026? Innovation, Collaboration, Community
